Conference Venue
Norrlands Nation
Address: Norrlands nation Västra Ågatan 14, 753 09 Uppsala, Sweden
Norrlands nation is a distinctive and memorable conference venue in the heart of Uppsala, combining historic character with a lively academic atmosphere.
Housed in a grand, traditional building, Norrlands nation offers a mix of formal halls and more relaxed social spaces, making it well suited for conferences, seminars, and networking events. The interiors feature classic Scandinavian design elements—wood, high ceilings, and elegant detailing—giving the venue a warm but professional feel.
For conference participants, the main highlights are:
- Spacious assembly halls for lectures, presentations, or panel discussions
- Breakout rooms for smaller sessions or workshops
- On-site dining and catering, often used for coffee breaks, lunches, or formal dinners
- A central location within walking distance of much of Uppsala
What makes it especially unique is its connection to student life at Uppsala University. Nations are student-run social and cultural organizations, so hosting a conference here gives a sense of being part of a long academic tradition while still enjoying a vibrant and slightly informal atmosphere.
Overall, Norrlands nation offers a venue that is both historic and social, ideal for events where you want a balance between professional content and opportunities to connect in a relaxed, characterful setting.
The student nations were established in the 17th century and ever since have served as a second home for Uppsala University students.
Norrland’s nation was formed in 1827. After many years of effort to raise money in the Norrland homeland, its own national house could be inaugurated in 1889. This house, which today is called ´Old House´, is undoubtedly Uppsala’s most magnificent national house with its classic façade facing the Fyrisån river.
